The Start of Something New
Today, I decided I’m going to live my life exactly as I want to. I'm going to sleep when I want, see who I want, do the type of work I want to do, and do things that I want, when I say them. I've fallen prey for too long with the distractions of social media. Instagram, Facebook, TikTok… They're always of hijacking your attention.

What's Your Story?
Here’s my story. From 2014 to 2021, I worked as a software engineer at a fantastic consulting firm in downtown Chicago. I worked with incredibly smart people, added code to features that were shipped for Fortune 500 companies, and learned a lot about what it means to provide massive value. On May 14th, 2021, two weeks before my 30th birthday on May 30th (yay, Golden Birthday!!), I took a leap of faith. I quit my full-time consulting job in search of personal fulfillment.

8:46am. Well, let’s hope today we can go from Notion page to blog entry a lot quicker than we did yesterday. Today is a different set of priorities than we had yesterday. Today, I am focusing on other projects. But I was done with those early, so I decided to look at what I got done yesterday, and holy cannoli! I have the foundations of *The Thought Experiment* blog ready to go.

9:10am. Morning!! Today is a cloudy and rainy day in Chicago. I love it, and how the temperature outside feels this morning. It is good for the trees and it helps bring even more verdant vibes to the city. This is the week I am going to put my effective leadership skills into practice. Today is the start of something special. At least that’s what I like to tell myself sometimes 😂

Finding Fulfillment
After seven years of service to my consulting firm, I was abruptly placed on furlough on April 2nd, 2020. My whole life was turned upside down, as my entire livelihood felt like it had been swept up from underneath me. I had so much time on my hands, I didn't know what to do with myself. During the eight weeks I was on furlough, I visited family in Mexico due to a funeral, wrote some music, started a channel on YouTube, and did some journaling. A LOT of journaling.

Two Days Til Takeoff
Tuesday, August 17th 2 days until take-off. The day has finally come. I've been psyching myself out a lot about this upcoming trip of mine. I thought it would've happened earlier in the summer. I thought I would've visited more destinations. I thought it would've been easier, faster, quicker to coordinate, easier to happen. I've figured it out halfway and am still flying, I am figuring out how to make this happen as time goes by. The thing about commitment and going for it is: you really have no idea exactly what it'll look like.

Hello, World.
Made a huge accomplishment today!! Today, I was able to get my blog posts (like this one) to dynamically load onto my home page! By adding some logic to my `layout.js`, I was able to use the result from my GraphQL query to get the markdown pages from my source filesystem to show up into blog previews, which link to the full blog in a separate page.
